Rafiki

Vision

Vision

Vision

Through Rafiki, United Methodists in Kenya and United Methodists  in the U.S. will be united together in friendship and mutual aid. Young Prophets Collective will assist in streamlining support to affirming United Methodists in  East Africa by cultivating and sustaining friendships, amplifying the ministries of affirming United Methodists in East Africa, and coordinating “relational safaris.”

Essentially, YPC will be the relational “middle man,” communicating with FUMC Moheto, Christ Chapel, St. Paul’s (and others one day) to continually update a list of projects that will assist in sustainability, and we’ll share these projects together with United Methodists form around the Connection in video calls and annual gatherings in Migori.

Relational Safaris

Young Prophets Collective, in partnership with affirming United  Methodists in East Africa, will host Rafiki video conferences throughout the year aimed at building friendships that bring the United Methodist Connection to life and distribute resources more equitably.

United Methodist leaders in East Africa will identify projects that would assist their communities in becoming self-sustaining and together with friends from across the Connection we will work as siblings to respond to these expressed needs.

Relational Safaris

Relational Safaris

Relational Safaris

Young Prophets Collective will coordinate yearly relational safaris, an embodied journey that unites our United Methodist friends from around the Connection in Migori, Kenya. The relational safari is not a mission trip, nor is it a one-time visit. Rather, these journeys are the fruit of the deep friendships that have been fostered online between affirming United Methodists.

The relational safaris ensure that friendship remains central to our shared ministries.

YPC and our affirming partners in East Africa will decide together how to allocate the funds collected by YPC under the “Rafiki” partnership project.

Funds will be sent from YPC, a registered nonprofit in the U.S., directly to the churches in Kenya/East Africa for the purposes agreed upon by the Rafiki partners.
